Recent HD6000 drivers periodically make Windows unresponsive

Description

Provide a detailed description of the issue

After the system has been running for some time, the graphics driver causes it to slow down so much that the mouse is very slow and jerky, and keyboard input is super-slow.  The system essentially becomes non-responsive so I have to hard reboot it by holding down the power button.  This typically happens after the system has been running overnight.  This problem only happens with recent graphics drivers including 4454 and 4474 beta.  It does not occur with 4331, although that one periodically causes BSODs.  I ran the processor diagnostic tool for a long time, and it did not detect any problems.  I have sleep mode disabled, but I have the display configured to turn off after 1/2 hour.  The problem manifests itself at the lock screen after I wake up the display.

HD4000 (with 3rd gen) black screen issue on Windows 10 TH2 (was working with original release 10240)

This has been reported by several other users http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/intel-hd-4000-drivers-cause-black-screen-in/f93e2b9…

who share two main characteristics:

A - They are using 3rd gen cpu and the corresponding driver

B - They were able to install the original Windows 10 release (15240) without issues, so the black screen is specific to TH2 and later versions (in my case it would be RS1 available to insiders)

It is still not working with the latest 3rd gen driver 15.33.43.4425 Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.33] . From the driver notes it seems that this series has yet to be tested with TH2, so that might explain things.

Intel Celeron N2840, Windows 10 and Custom Resolution

Hi all,

I have a problem. I have a Lenovo notebook with Intel Celeron N2840 processor. It works fine for simple tasks.  I want to connect it to Dell monitor. Dell monitor has QHD (2560x1440) resolution. The main problem that I can't run custom resolution app on Windows 10.

I installed the latest driver via Intel Driver Update Utility. This driver doesn't have Custom Resolution option in Intel Control Panel. It has CustomModeApp in Windows System32 folder, but I can't run this app on Windows 10 (do nothing).

How can I setup custom resolution on this notebook? Intel Control Panel has Custom Resolutions tab in new driver versions, but I can't install them on this processor/video chip.

Thanks,

Yehor

Intel HD Graphics 4000 Driver for Windows 10?

Hi all,

I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 a few days ago, and I've been struggling to find a way to install this "Beta" driver for my Intel HD Graphics 4000 card that's in my laptop because I'm experiencing blur problems on Windows 10.

Anyways, I found this driver page that supports my graphics card and Windows 10, but it won't give me a download to it... Link: Intel® Download Center

It says it would be in my Windows Update to download, but there's no updates available there! Can I get a direct download to this driver if possible please? I searched everywhere, please help!

Thanks in advance!

Display corruption with Intel 530 and Sharp TV LC60LE835U

$

I upgraded my HTPC last friday . I'm having several problems with the graphics with my Sharp TV .

1) There is display corruption all over - like digital snow, white or red, and Windows not repainting. properlyThis is intermittent. When it does happen, it won't go away even after a reboot. It can happen as early as during the Windows boot process before even logging in, or later on. I have not found a trigger for it. It is extremely annoying. It was very bad on the first day, last friday. Did not happen at all on saturday. Then it happened again on monday ...

2) not really a "problem" per-se, but I notice that in the TV's input menu, the "HDMI2" input to which the PC is connected is renamed to "9xxx" . This happens only after Windows boots up - when the PC first comes up with the BIOS screen, it shows as "HDMI2"

I am using Windows 10, July 2016 update, with latest patches from Microsoft.

I am using the latest Intel graphics 530 video release drivers (clicked support, and downloaded them) and unfortunately, they didn't fix it.

I am using 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz, 2D mode. The TV is a 3D TV, but I run the desktop in 2D.

The TV has the latest firmware. This is a 4-year old TV, so I don't expect any more updates from Sharp.

If I revert to using my older graphics card, an Asus GT630 PCI-E 2.0 x8, everything is fine - none of the above problems occur. But I don't want to use that card anymore. I bought the new motherboard so I could use the built-in graphics card.

The brand new hardware I have is as follows :

- Asus Z170-A motherboard with latest 1801 BIOS

- Corsair LPX DDR4-2666 2x8GB (16GB total)

- Intel i5-6400 CPU with stock cooler

- Patriot Ignite 240GB SSD

Other relevant hardware in this machine :

- Hauppauge HVR-2250 PCI-E video capture card

- LG BD-ROM drive

- Themaltake DH101 case

- Iogear GKM 561R USB wireless keyboard/mouse

I have tested the RAM with memtest , and it passed several passes (8 hours).

Also tried downclocking it do DDR4-2133, but it did not solve the graphics corruption when I was seeing it.

One hour of Prime95 found no problems, and I think the CPU is good. The CPU is running at stock clock, not OC.

At this point, I'm out of ideas. I suspect either a defective motherboard, or some software compatibility problem between the Intel 530 graphics and my TV.

I do have another Skylake machine in the house - with a very similar motherboard, a Z170-AR, and i5-6600k CPU. It is on a different floor of the house and somewhat heavy. I may try to move it upstairs and hook it up to the TV to see if those problems occur too.

But in the meantime, I would really appreciate feedback from Intel. Is this any kind of known issue ? And if so, is a software fix forthcoming ?

Or should I return my motherboard to the store ? It is a pain to disconnect everything and get another mobo. The store where I bought it from doesn't have a liberal return policy either, unfortunately. So, I thought I would check here first.

[9024844] Custom resolution not working

$

I emailed Intel Customer Support Service and they refer me to this forum because the agent say it will have the correct exposure to intel engineering department. (request # 8001214860)

The problem is Intel Graphics driver for HD 4600 (and presumably others too) have a broken custom resolution for Built in LCD. No matter what setting you put into it, it will always custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity.

I tested it on many different laptop with eDP (embedded displayport) like Alienware 17, Asus G751JM, Asus Q551LN, Lenovo Y50-70, Razer Blade 14, MSI GT60 Dominator Pro, and Gigabyte P34 and they all say custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity.

To establish the fact that bandwidth is not the problem, I tried creating a custom resolution at native res (1920x1080) at 59Hz (default is 60Hz) and it says custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity. To test it further I downscale the resolution to 1600x900 @ 59Hz and it still gives the error so I conclude the problem is with the driver itself.

I tried the oldest and newest driver from the OEM and the one on Intel website and they are all broken.

The problem is NOT ISOLATED on a laptop model or a manufacturer but the Intel Graphics driver itself.

In fact if you verify the problem by testing it on ANY laptop that has an Intel graphics and try to create a custom resolution that is 1Hz less than native (like 59Hz) and it will give you the same error.

So why does it matter? Almost every single gaming laptop that is being released are NVIDIA Optimus Enabled (Hybrid Graphics where Intel Graphics is handling the display) and it prevents people from changing the refresh rate of the display. As an example the LCD panel found on Asus G751JM-BHI7T25 uses LG LP156WF4 SPL1 which is the exact same panel found on Asus G751JY that comes at 75Hz by default, but we cannot change the refresh rate due to broken Intel Custom Resolution even though the LCD panel itself is more than capable to handle it.

Refresh rate is a huge feature as evident on monitors getting released (like BenQ XL2430T, Asus ROG Swift, Acer Predator, etc...) and if you ask any gamer that has tried a high refresh rate monitor they will tell you how much big of a difference it is and because of this issue, any gaming laptop that has Hybrid graphics (Intel Graphics enabled) is a HUGE deal breaker.

Bad rendering 530 HD

Hi,

I bought an I5 6600K a few weeks ago, but i noticed some graphic issue with the GPU.

Issue1: Sometimes when I resize a window the written is not readable (see "Issue1.PNG").

Issue2: In some games (the games in the photos are "Rocket League" and "Brothers") I have a bad rendering (see "Issue2 (1)/(2).jpg"). Is not all the time, just flash every 1-2 secs when some object moves or change the view.

There is no way to remove the problem for Brothers, in Rocket League I found a compromise setting in this way:Config.jpg.

I don't know what's wrong, because i know for sure that this cpu is good for this games in high quality, I checked on Best Gaming Settings.

I tried to uninstall and install again the drivers, no luck.

I used this monitor and cable with an other pc, and no issues.

Can you please tell me how to solve it?

Update 02/06/2016 02.43:

I tried to unistall the drivers without internet connection. OS installed its general drivers (version 21/06/2006 - 10.0.10586.0).

Issue 1: none.

Issue 2: none but fps too much slow (2-3 fps).

So I tried to install without connection the drivers intel v.15.40.23.4444 (64bit) suggested by intel site, but it installed the version 20.19.15.4444 insted,

Issue1: none (for now)

Issue 2: Same of version 20.19.15.4424

So now I have version 20.19.15.4444 and I have updated the DxDiag, DispDiag-Intel-Issue and Intel System Support files.

Hello,

I have Dell XPS 15 9550, I recently updated to latest driver and display keeps flickering momentarily. It doesn't go black or anything but looks as if brightness goes up and down instantaneously. Happens intermediately with the latest updates. I never noticed this issue with 20.19.15.4331, anything above I noticed this problem.

I have tried installing the Beta version as well and they all cause this flickering issue for me.

Intel Driver:

Beta 15.40.26.4474 - Flickering Issue

15.40.25.4463 - Flickering Issue

15.40.14.4452 - Flickering Issue

Dell's Driver:

20.19.15.4390 - Gamma Level Issue + Flickering Issue

20.19.15.4331 - No Issue

Hi,

I have Lenovo z500i laptop running "intel hd graphics 4000 " as per my Device Manager .  The Intel driver was running fine on windows 8.1.  However, after I upgraded my Windows 8.1 to 10, my display dimmed to the point where I can barely see anything.

I tried to configure Windows 10 but it is set to maximum brightness.  I updated your intel hd graphics 4000 windows 10 driver to the latest - in Device Manager it says it is dated 12/21/215 version 10.18.10.4358.

I went to your website:

https://communities.intel.com/thread/55091

And noticed that other users are complaining about your drivers.  I found this link and tried to  install latest driver:

Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.33]

However, when I tried to execute it (version 15.33.43.4425 for graphics driver 10.18.10.4425) , your driver announced that "This installation package is not supported by this processor type".

Can someone help get me the right driver?

Thanks.

Just last night there was an update for Windows 10, I went and did it, and when I got back on my screen resolution was messed up. In the past I was able to fix it, but that's because it recognized that I had a tv imputed. Now, though, it only says I have one display and the it is my sync master. I've tried to re install, update, delete, but nothing seems to be working for me. Pls help, I'm down for any suggestions.

Hi there to whom it may concern

I was able to install my MYST-URU pc game on my 64-bit laptop it has a windows 10 Pro OS....but the game wont run/start. It worked perfect on windows  8 & 8.1. I Tried all the os settings in properties and even starting it on administrative permissions. But nothing happens. are there any drivers or patches that I can install on windows 10 pro, that would allow me to run older pc games.

Thanks
