Intel HD 4000 Graphics (i7-3770K) occasional flicker

$

I have an i7-3770K on an Asus P8Z77-V PRO and am using the on-board Intel HD 4000 Graphics to drive two displays.

My displays are a Dell 3008WFP at 2560x1600 on DisplayPort, and a Dell 2407WFPHC at 1200x1920 (rotated 90 degrees to portrait) on DVI.

Running the latest drivers (8.15.10.2761) on Windows 7 Ultimate N x64.

32GB memory, water cooling, Intel 240GB SATA3 SSD and a 750W Corsair PSU round out the box.

When working (writing code, web surfing, watching video) on the machine, the video will quickly cut out on one monitor or the other and then come back. The 24" Dell on DVI handles this [in a small fraction of a second] like a champ and I hardly notice. The Dell 30" looses the signal, goes blank and then takes a couple seconds to reacquire the signal before showing the desktop again... it's REALLY annoying!!

Anyone seen something like this before, or have ideas?

I've changed the DisplayPort & DVI cables, tried a different motherboard of the same model, tried a motherboard from a different manufacturer (Gigabyte), hooked it up to a Dell 3011WFP (which re-acquires the signal much faster than the 3008WFP btw), reset monitors to factory defaults, and installed the latest drivers. To no avail.

Help?!?

Manually allocating graphics memory

Hi, I'm currently running on a Lenovo Thinkpad E530 (contains Intel HD graphics 4000) and I wanted to know why my graphics properties panel is telling me that I have 64 MB of dedicated video memory when I have a total graphics memory of 1696 MB. I know about DVTM, but when I run a video game that requires at least 152 MB of dedicated memory, my framerate gets brutally murdered (it's definitely not because of my other specs because my processor runs at 2.5 GHz and I have 5.8 GB usable RAM). If DVTM exists on my computer, why won't it allocate 152 MB of dedicated memory, or even more, to the video game? I've read that DVTM works with video games too, but I'm running Minecraft and I get an average framerate of 12 FPS. Also, I've tried the BIOS settings, but I've searched every setting possible and there's nothing that lets me choose how much dedicated memory I'm getting.

I am in a bit of a jam right now and can't think of any more solutions to this problem here is what I have tried:

- Installing the Beta driver for Windows 8.1, result: Driver doesn't work (code 43), windows reverts to basic driver. Direct X works but is software emulated.

- Installing manufacturer Drivers (9.17.10.2843). Driver seems OK, Direct X doesn't work, dxdiag reports no errors however.

- Installing another Intel Driver (9.18.10.3071). Same result

- sfc /scannow reports no errors

Here is my current dxdiag output:

HD 4000 triple monitor works in Linux, not Windows

I have a Lenovo T430 with Intel HD 4000 and the Lenovo Mini Dock Plus. I have connected two identical displays using the DisplayPort connectors on the dock and would like to keep the laptop's internal display also active.

I've tried various combinations, but no matter what I choose, I can only have two displays active at any given time in Windows 8 (64-bit). The Intel website shows a third display option will appear in the control panel, but I have yet to see it appear. I even tried updating to the latest driver available on Intel's website without any improvement.

What's very odd is this same laptop and configuration works fine in Ubuntu 11.04 with all three displays enabled. It seems very odd to me that the Windows driver is limited, yet the Linux driver is not.

Is there any trick to force the third display to enable? Is this a problem with Windows 8 or a limitation of the driver?

Display does not keep aspect ratio - bug in driver?

Hello,

I am using Intel's HD4000 adapter (built into i7-3770) together with old Radeon HD3450. Init display first is set to Radeon (bug in motherboard or bios does not allow changing this), but main desktop is on Intel. Main monitor (and desktop) is wide screen, but Radeon is used for s-video output at 1024x768 (second available resolution is 800x600). OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Problem. With s-video output disabled, old games shows in correct aspect ratio (4:3) with black sides. With s-video output enabled, aspect ratio is lost and image stretched to 16:9.

Using latest available HD4000 driver from download page - 9.18.10.3165 (2013.05.07). Any ideas how to fix this and preserve aspect ratio?

Thanks,

Oskars

Official Black-screen thread - We need your help!

Hello Graphics Communities!

For a very long time now we've been trying to track down, diagnose, and correct an issue that seems to be happening all across the board with Intel® Graphics.  Users, for various reasons - seem to have issues with OEM systems (and Intel® NUC's) losing their display for different events.

  • Installing new drivers
  • Rebooting
  • Computers idling, going into sleep or hibernation
  • Other random events

We have run into a stumbling block in fixing this issue, and that is that we are unable to reproduce the symptoms above.  We have ordered exact-matching systems, displays and cables - and matched our configurations to those of the users having problems, and we are completely unable to reproduce the problem.  The issue is complex, but in this particular case - it stems from the fact that two users with the same configuration are not guaranteed to have the problem, it varies from user to user, system to system, display to display.

What we at Intel® are asking now though is 2-fold.  If you are one of these users (or a business) experiencing a consistent black-screening issue as mentioned above, we would like to procure your COMPLETE system configuration.  This means, we want you to ship us (at our expense) - the System (desktop or laptop), display (TV, monitor) AND the cable (hdmi, dp, dvi, vga) used by your system when it starts to have a blackscreen failure.  If you are willing to do this, you should be aware that we will keep your system for an extended period, and will compensate you by replacing your setup.

NOW!  Even if you are not willing to send us your system, and would just like to inform us that you have a black-screen issue.  That is okay too. Even if you have already submitted this info in some of our other black-screen threads, feel free to submit it here too.  Please submit the following information into this thread so that we can continue to document all possible instances of it.  Just copy and paste the below list and put in relevant information (completely!).  *NOTE* If you have not already done so, please update your BIOS and Display Driver to the latest version available.  We cannot accept a report of a failing configuration that is not up to date.  Additionally, if you are running your display through a 3rd party device such as a projector or an AV/R (receiver), you need to show that the problem still occurs without the extra device connected (a direct connection from system to display is required).

Are you willing to send your system to us? (Yes/No)
Is your system a laptop or desktop?
If desktop, is it custom built, or manufactured?
If desktop, what is the make/model of your motherboard?
What is the make/model of your system? (COMPLETE model name required)
What is the model of your CPU?
What is the make/model of your failing display(s)?
If laptop, is your built-in display failing? (Yes/No)
What is your operating system?
Is it a 64-bit or 32-bit operating system?
What display driver version do you have installed?
What type of connection are you using? (HDMI, VGA, DP, DVI?)
What happens that results in the blackscreen failure?

Any/all information is valuable.

Thank you for your information & cooperation!

HP Probook 4510s persistant graphics challenge

Hello,

I own a Probook 4510s Notebook - NA915EA, it's warranty is already expired.

The problem lies with the Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family [PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2A42].

Whenever I do not install any driver for this part it works fine. The display resolution can be set to 1024x768, but I cannot connect a hdmi screen to it.

When I do install a graphics driver the following happens:

> I enable driver installation (gpedit.msc\Local Computer Policy\ Computer Config \ Administrative Settings \ System \ Device Installation \ Device Installation Restrictions \ Precent installation of devices not described by other policy settings -> Not Configured)

> I install the driver, WinSAT & Aero enabled.

> I disable driver installation to prevent windows from messing up

> I restart the Probook

> The Probook loads all drivers fine

> The welcome screen appears with black pixels all over the screen

> The welcome screen refreshes 3 times; every time the pixels are on a different place

> Blue Screen of Death

I hope there's someone out there with the solution

Req: Better GUI for changing driver settings :)

$

A recent driver update changed the control panel utility to be Win8 style inspired. Would it be possible to get a standard UI in a future version, at least as an option?

The new GUI takes up most of the screen, requires constant going back and forth between large and empty screens with few options in each. It's also a bit slow. I suppose it fits well the Win8 UI design guidelines of "big", "flat", and "few options", but I'm not sure how many graphics driver tweakers appreciate these traits.

A dialog or two using standard Windows controls would be my ideal, but also the previous skinned interface would be a noticeable upgrade (retrograde?).

Hi, both my Asus barebones are crashing when running the Windows 7 Performance index. One has an I5, the other one an I3, both with HD4000 and the latest graphics Drivers- The crashing issues stops when I use the windiws Standard graphics Driver. What to do?

3 displays on system with i7-4770 with Asus Z87-Deluxe mobo

I have a brand new system built with an ASUS z87-deluxe motherboard and an intel i7-4770 cpu.  I can only get 2 of my displays to work simultaneously although the computer recognizes 3 displays.  I know that on older systems and processors 2 displays, but one of the reasons I built this config, was specifically because it is supposed to support 3 displays.  Doc on the i7-4770 chip says that it does, and the info on the ASUS website indicates that it should as well... HOWEVER, I still can't get it to work.

Is there a setting I need to tweak?  Any help would be appreciated.

Latest update for HD Graphics 3000 gives reduced performance

$

Hey there,

I've updated my HD Graphics 3000 with latest 9.17.10.3223 drivers and I experience a very bad performance in Games after updating. I was playing "Remember me" before the update and the game is now so lagging and gives poor, reduced performance after the update. I'm not complaining, I just want you guys to check it.

I'm a quick updater and I used to update my drivers as soon as the new drivers come out. So, I always look forward for new updates and expect at least a little increased performance after a new update. As a gamer I'll be pleased if I can help Intel graphics developing community.

Thank you.

"Display Power Saving Technology" setting not saved

Hi,

I'm using Asus Zenbook Prime, with Intel HD 4000, driver version 9.17.10.2843, Windows 8

When unplugged from power, I've noticed that the screen can get really ugly (washed out colors), I've noticed that it's related to the option "Power\Power Conservation Features\Display Power Saving Technology" in the Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel.

After I've disabled this option, everything looks great again, but when I restart the computer, the colors get washed out again.

As I understand the setting is not saved, and everytime I restart the computer, it gets restarted to the default setting.

Please make it to be saved!

Thanks

Problem with Open GL and Intel HD 4000 on Windows 8

Hi,

We have tested our 3D space planning program on a Surface Pro with Windows 8 Pro and we have an issue which seems to come from Intel HD 4000 driver.

We have a random crash using our app that only occurs with HD 4000. This app works with Java and JoGL with Open GL 1.2 or Open GL 2

We tried two drivers

Download Center

and

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22842&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%208%2C%2064-bit*&DownloadType=Drivers

and we have the same crsh with these two releases.

This is very annoying beacaue our customers have bought laptops with Intel 4000 cards.

Under is the bug report that we have in the Java Console :

Could you please tell us how we can fix it ?

Kind regards,

Mickael

Intel driver updates won't install?

$

0

I'm running Windows 7 32-bit Home Premium on a laptop with Intel Core i3 processor.

The update utility didn't work (firefox) so I found the update manually (Version: 15.22.50.2509)

Whenever I try to install it the dialogue box just closes with out any error messages or anything.

I tried both the.zip and the .exe.

How can I fix this problem?

Thanks!

Hello again everyone.  Following in the same spirit as the last Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 driver feedback thread, I'm making a new one to announce our latest driver release.  Version 1091 just went live today, and I would again like to ask everyone to provide constructive feedback on it.

The link to the download is here; Download Center

The same rules apply for this thread as did apply for the last one.  This thread is dedicated specifically to this driver and the feedback for this driver.  This thread is not a discussion place for Windows* 8 GMA 3600 driver questions/complaints, nor is it for Windows* 7 GMA (64-bit) driver requests/complaints.  Any such comments will be promptly deleted.  However, please feel free to use any of the already-existing threads of that topic to discuss and provide feedback there.

Along with the feedback, if there are any new issues that resulted from the new driver, please provide detailed information on where you saw them, how it happened, and what steps to reproduce.

Thank you,

Hi, so I installed the latest drivers for my HD2500 GFX, I noticed they fixed the issues with the CYBCr resting itself but now my monitor does not go to sleep, it just goes to a black screen and stays powered on, anyone else have this problem, any fix available apart from using an older driver that have the CYBCr issue.

Cheers.
