Displays not detected until after Intel Control Panel "Detect"

$

Hey everyone: New to this space.  I joined because I am switching to a new PC and bringing two Viewsonic VX2355WM monitors with me and they are not working correctly.  When I boot the computer, they show "No signal detected" right away and soft-power off.  I have the 630 chipset.  The Viewsonics are attached using 1 DVI to Displayport adapter and 1 DVI to HDMI cable.  Neither works in any configuration with either or both plugged/unplugged, etc.

I thought I found the solution: I unattached one of them and attached a working monitor so I can see the Windows desktop.  Then I opened Intel Graphics Control Panel: Display/Mutiple Displays (where only 1 monitor shows; the temporary one) and click Detect.  After a brief pause it finds the remaining Viewsonic still attached and that monitor gets a signal, displays a screen, and shows up as an additional display.  I can then unattach the temporary monitor and reattach the other Viewsonic.  Using Intel Graphis Control Panel again on the working Viewsonic, I am able to Detect and have the 2nd Viewsonic appear... viola, both Viewsonics are working with no issues.

The problem is everytime I reboot the computer, they go back to the exact same symptoms, and I have to use the temp monitor again to redetect one at a time.  Notable that neither Viewsonic monitor is ever working during POST or Windows loading.  Only after I click "Detect".

I have tried updating the driver for the monitor in Device Manager (which then finds the correct VX2355WM drivers instead of the basic windows compatible Plug and Play monitor), and I have updated the Intel driver to version 24.20.100.6194.  Neither has worked to allow the monitors to persist after reboot.

Given that the monitors were working fine on the old system, and work fine after the above steps, and that other monitors that I've plugged in work with no issues, it seems like this is a simple driver issue.  I would appreciate any assistance and am happy to test solutions.

Quantization Range value in Control Panel does not persist after reboot (Windows 10 Pro)

I was originally having a problem, with my mouse cursor not showing in the Google Chrome Developer Mode. It was fixed by changing the Quantization Range value to Full Range, as per this StackOverflow page:

Cursor not showing in Device Mode (Google Chrome) - Stack Overflow

However, every morning the problem re-appears when I turn on my computer. I need to go into the Intel Graphics Control Panel, change the Quantization Range value (which is already on Full Range) to something else, click apply, change it back to Full Range, click apply again, then exit the control panel. The issue is then resolved.

It seems to me that the value is being saved by the control panel, but not actually being applied (by the driver?) upon system boot. System information is below:

Adaptive Brightness off, brightness still changing - Samsung Notebook 9

I have been having an ongoing issue that seem to arise after a windows update. If i am view a screen that is dark, my brightness will automatically darken and when i go back to a lighter screen, it slowly increases. Its extremely irritating and i have had this laptop for over a year with no issue like this until now. I have done everything i could to fix it, disabling sensor device, go into power plans and changing adaptive brightness, going into Intel HD control panel but have no option to disable "Power Saving Technology". I even went into Samsung's own display settings and made sure anything related to brightness was set to not cause this issue. I have also rollbacked drivers, uninstall and reinstalled older drivers etc.

intel HD 520 Graphics Drivers causing windows to randomly reboot

My Asus UX305UA i7-6500u started to randomly reboot while running Windows 10. After much frustration and failed troubleshooting, I downgraded to windows 7 and found that without the Display Drivers installed, the device did not reboot at all. After installing the Display drivers, the device started to reboot again.

The drivers were downloaded from the ASUS website and the details are as follows: VGA_Intel_Skylake_Win10_64_VER2019154300. The drivers were updated on Windows 10 however it did not make a difference.

The drivers that are possibly causing the rebooting are: 1) Intel Corporation (Display) 08/24/2015 10.19.15.4279

                                                                                         2) Intel(R) Corporation (MEDIA) 08/03/2015 6.16.00.3180

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Being sure HD Graphics Control Panel video controls will be available on a new laptop

Hello All.

HD Graphics Control Panel is essential to me as, on its video section, it lets me change red, green, blue, cyan, magenta and yellow independently from one another and in real time during video playback. That is something no media player I know of can do (normally it’s only “hue” and that’s it, so while you correct one color you destroy the others). With that flexibility, I can correct nearly every lousy print transfer that I find on BD. It also lets me save video profiles for each movie that I think it needs correction (up to 50 profiles on Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000, hope one day there will be room for more!). So here is the issue. I want to buy a new laptop, preferably with off board graphics coming along, but I want to be sure that HD Graphics Control Panel will be there for me whenever I need video playback color correction. So I want it to be there, and I do not want the system, or the off board graphics card, to shut it off. That is something real hard to be sure of when buying online.

So I have 3 big doubts here:

1) If I discover the chipset of the laptop processor, can I be sure it will come (or not) with HD Graphics Control Panel?

2) Can I expect that newer versions of HD Graphics Control Panel will also have independent red/green/blue/cyan/magenta/yellow controls (like Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 or better)?

3) Can I expect that a newer version of HD Graphics Control Panel will be backwards compatible with .igp profile files saved with an older Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000?

Thanks!

Intel Graphics Driver Unable To Install Driver

I am trying to install the Intel graphics driver for my system. Windows 10 64bit. The SGX component will only run with the latest Intel graphics driver. I have a 300 series CPU and a 300 series ASRock Mainboard Z370 Pro4 Motherboard with latest BIOS. I am able to download the graphics driver but can not install it. I keep getting an error message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software" even though I meet the requirements for the Driver install. Thanks in advance.

Intel Core2 Duo E6550 new graphics card

Hi everybody!

I own a Fujitsu computer with an Intel Core2 Duo E6550 processor (2,33GHz) and Mesa DRI Intel Q33 graphics that I only use for recording music, browsing the web and some basic office tasks. It's more like a spare of a spare. The processor can handle the programs I am using just fine, but the graphics are very bad (screen tearing, etc...).

Currently I'm running Windows 10 (without animations) and Xubuntu Linux (on two separate SSDs with 8GB of RAM)

I'd like to replace the video card with a better one that should be compatible with Linux.

What would be a good solution (other than buying a new computer)?

Thanks in advance!

HDMI audio issue, fix known and I don't know what to do

Hi there,

since several versions of the driver, there is a problem with HDMI audio on Windows 10 and Intel integrated graphics. As described here HDMI Audio works for some games, not for others

There are several other users affected by this since years by now, with people complaining in game support forums, on this forum here and elsewhere.

As I'm writing this, the most recent version of the graphics driver is also affected on my NUC NUC6i5SYH with integrated IRIS 540 graphics.

The reason for the issue is known to Intel, as explained by Ronald_Intel who helpfully points out:

You see, when the application launches, the driver does a 'modeset' with a max delay of 8 seconds (max time defined by the HDMI specification) during which the audio gets disabled. It is at this point that the application checks for audio presence (shows disabled), hence audio drop occurs. The application(s) that run into this problem need to be updated so they detect the audio for more than 8 seconds upon launch. The reason why this issue doesn't occur on previous drivers is because due to a code bug, they were taking longer than 8 seconds for 'modeset'. However this was actually undesired behavior since it affects plenty of other scenarios.

I understand the issue and understand Intel's decision to have the driver's code follow the HDMI spec.

But I have multiple games affected by this and after years of the problem, the developers of these games still won't fix their software. I wrote to several game publishers of games I purchased on Steam, pointed them to the threads on this forum describing the issue, no use, no response. Two prominent examples from my Steam library are Lego Star Wars games that my kids love to play (won't somebody think of the children?) and it's close to impossible to even find the game support contact for Traveller's Tales, the publisher of these games.

Ronald also writes:

Intel has been reaching out to most developers so they can look into this and fix their code, but if you have a list of affected applications or games please let us know so we can attempt reaching out to the respective devs as well.

I would love to provide a list of affected games, but will that help? E.g. the Lego Star Wars games are known to Ronald / Intel since a long time and yet I see no progress in them being fixed. Are you guys in contact with TT to have these fixed and / or what can I do here to improve this?

Also, may I humbly suggest that instead of trying to get all the developers out there fix their software, maybe a workaround to this issue could be added to the driver? A pragmatic solution might be to just mute the audio (instead of completely disabling it) during the 8 second modeset? My naive assumption is that this behaviour would still adhere to the HDMI spec and yet the applications with audio output would experience no loss of their audio channel during a modeset anymore, so the affected games would work again.

Thanks. And please help fixing this. I'd love, love, love to be able to play all of my Windows 10 games on the TV and projector.

Intel Graphics 5500 GPU 100%

I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 unit that has a 5500 card onboard which constantly runs the GPU at around 100%, this causes major lag on the machine with even the most basic tasks. In a bid to resolve this I have completed a fresh install of Win10 but unfortunately the issue remains. Shutting down all apps will reduce the load but any app can trigger the increase be it Browser, Outlook, Netflix etc. I have increased the dedicated Video Memory to 512Mb, and tweaked the power/3D settings in the Intel control panel none of which has made any difference. Any assistance/advice would be much appreciated (SSU output attached).

Intel HD Graphics, "Scale Full Screen" in games isn't working with HDMI

$

Hi,

Summary:

Intel HD Graphics, "Scale Full Screen" in games isn't working with HDMI, if a 3d game is started with lower resolution than monitor's resolution it appears like framed by a big black frame.

Preconditions:

Dell laptop based on intel n3710.

Windows 10

Drivers ver 15.40.38.4963

HDMI cable connected to a big extrenal display   LG 2442t-bna, using an HDMI VGA adapter (chinese no-name brand, but it shows so hacking precise and beautiful picture!)

There were no tests made with the direct HDMI-HDMI connection, but the full screen scale of windows and linux OS UIs works very well and looks very beautiful, so I think the adapter isn't a source of a problem.

Problem:

Full screen scaling in games isn't working when using HDMI

(It works well with the output to laptop's matrix)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Connect a big external display through HDMI f.e. LG 2442t-bna
2. Open Intel HD Graphics control panel, go to "General Settings" , check "Scale full screen" , "override app's settings", or uncheck them They don't make any difference.

3. Open some 3d game and set a resolution lower, than on the monitor.

Tested With: Unreal Tournament'99, modes: OpenGL, D3D, DX9, DX10 support, software rendering mode - no difference.
Quake1 On Dark Places engine (LordHavoc's DarkPlaces Quake Modification ) - no difference.

4. Try to change compatibility modes for these apps - no difference (no other games were tested so far, these apps were working perfectly on my old dell Alienware but it died and I've purchased a new laptop).

The reason to lower a resolution a little bit is:

1. In old games - to small fonts in game menus that can't be enlarged
2. In new games - on this video card very high resolution causes a low FPS or requires to use the lowest graphics settings.

Similar problem was discussed a few years ago but links in this topic are broken.

Hi, I bought an i7 8700k and when I installed the latest internal graphics driver (24.20.100.6194) my monitor screen started to flicker and tremble (a lot and I can not control it ), I tested my CPU in two different motherboards (gigabyte z370 gaming 5 and asus z370 maximus x hero) with the same behavior, also I have tried with two different monitors and is same.

is there something that I can do? or is it a defect?

Intel Graphics Automatic Games Settings feature

Intel® has introduce a feature with the ability to automatically configure game settings for Intel® Graphics on 6th Gen Core Processors or higher

(including systems with 8th Gen Core Processors with Radeon RX Vega M Graphics).

Look for the ‘Gaming icon’ in the Graphics Control Panel. The Automatic Game Settings feature is still in beta so game availability and functionality is limited.

We'd love to hear your feedback on this feature though so please let us know what you think in this thread!

Stay tuned for future improvements and more games coming soon!

Currently supported games: Battlefield 1™, Battlefield 4™, American Truck Simulator™, Call of Duty® WWII, Destiny® 2,

DOTA™ 2, Grand Theft Auto V™, League of Legends®, Overwatch™, World of Tanks™

Monitor will not stay in standby.

I have an ASUS Prime Z370A motherboard with an Intel 8400 processor (Intel UHD Graphics 630, driver 24.20.100.6194) and an LG 34UC97 monitor on a data port.

When the monitor goes to standby (after 20 minutes in my case) a message comes on saying "no video monitor will shut down shortly".  The message then disappears and the monitor shuts down but quickly reawakens in 5 seconds & displays the same message again.

This will repeat until the computer actually goes to sleep (after 1 hour). This began after driver win64_15.65.5.4982.  If I reinstall this driver it works fine.

Cannot get full RGB quantization range 0:255 over native DisplayPort on HD 630 iGPU

$

I recently purchased an HP Elitedesk 800 G3 Mini Desktop which comes with integrated Intel HD 630 graphics on a premium Kabylake 7700T chipset. Two of the three outputs on the back are full-sized DisplayPort. My problem here is that on Windows, I simply cannotget full RGB color quantization 0:255 on a computer monitor at all. Instead, I am getting clamped RGB 16:235 from native DisplayPort outputs, which goes directly against the DP spec and established computer monitors standards. It is most certainly not a problem with the underlying hardware or the BIOS, as this issue is nonexistent on Linux, and it is very clear from the boot splash screen and Linux usage that the ports output full, unclamped RGB by default as intended. It is also not a problem exclusive to OEM Intel drivers, as HP's supplied drivers for Windows as well as the newest versions of the Kabylake HD 630 driver I have obtained from Windows Update or directly from Intel's site results in the same exact problem: limited RGB quantization over native DisplayPort out. There are no adapters or anything weird going on here, just direct DP to DP. I further ruled out the issue as a monitor-exclusive thing because I get the exact same results on three radically different computer monitors I own with DisplayPort inputs: Samsung CF591, HP Elitedesk 243, and HP n270c. Basically, on Windows, colors are horribly washed out, contrast is terrible, and deep blacks and bright whites are not displayed.

The difference between full RGB and limited RGB is nothing short of absolutely jarring. On Linux, clamping and unclamping the DP RGB range is easily accomplished using "xrandr --output DP-1 --set "Broadcast RGB" "Full"" (unclamped/full) or "xrandr --output DP-1 --set "Broadcast RGB" "Limited 16:235"" (clamped/limited). On Windows, however, I am stuck with the Intel driver delivering only 16:235 limited colors over native DisplayPort connections. The issue is especially apparent when, for example, opening the legacy command prompt in fullscreen and observing how different from black the background really is. This color issue applies to the entire Windows desktop environment, and changing the options in the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel -> Video -> Color Enhancement -> Input Range has no effect whatsoever on the picture. Selecting Automatic, Limited, or Full all give the exact same disappointing and frustrating result: Limited 16:235 RGB. I've tried everything from setting color profiles to registry hacks, but nothing works.

Using the one HDMI port on the back, I can get full 0:255 RGB color with no issues through the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel. However, using the single HDMI port is far from ideal for me and I much prefer using DisplayPort. Again, HDMI is a home theater spec that originally only delivered limited 16:235 RGB, but DisplayPort always has and always should deliver full 0:255 RGB, as it is a computer monitor spec not found on any televisions whatsoever. Furthermore, full 4:4:4 RGB color depth is standard over DP on any graphics card made in the past decade. I simply don't understand why the full RGB quantization range is not delivered over native DisplayPort on Windows, this must be a mistake on the Intel driver side. I have placed great faith in Intel's integrated graphics for many years, but this glaring problem on a 2017 chipset with 2018 Intel Windows drivers is downright unacceptable. The only possible reason I could see that this bug was not noticed/addressed is the fact native DisplayPort outputs are fairly uncommon on computers that lack a dedicated AMD or Nvidia graphics card. I would appreciate any feedback here, and I sincerely hope this issue can be resolved.

The Intel(R) Content Protection HECI Service cannot start because the subject driver package for Windows 7 32-bit installs a 64-bit version of IntelCpHDCPSvc.exe which won't run on a 32-bit system.

The error is eventid 7000 The Intel(R) Content Protection HECI Service service failed to start due to the following error: This version of c:\Windows\system32\IntelCpHeciSvc.exe is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.

Is this a packaging error? If so, can Intel please fix this?.
