False multiple monitors with intel drivers

$

I have an Asus UX501J that use Intel HD Graphics 4600. Usually I connect 2 extra monitors. Today I came back to my computer and all displays was in chaos. My main screen was in 4K duplicated with some other screen that do not exist. In total my driver is telling me I have 7 monitors. See my screen dump. No use to update the driver. This is the latest. 2017-01-26 (2).png

HD Graphics Control Panel won't start

I noticed that Intel HD Graphics 4000 doesn't seem to be working on my computer which has both the Intel onboard graphics and an NVIDIA GTX 1080 card (the Intel onboard graphics is normally active for encoding hardware acceleration for my Milestone XProtect surveillance system).  It might have something to do with the Windows Fall Creators Update.  When I click on the HD Graphics Control Panel, nothing happens, indicating that there is some bug with the Intel driver.  I tried updating to the latest Intel driver using the update utility, but doesn't make any difference.  I also tried completely uninstalling the Intel HD driver and re-installing.  I found some discussion posts talking about a problem with Intel Virtualization technology recommending to disable this feature in the BIOS.  I did that and tried uninstalling, re-installing again, but that didn't make any difference either.  Is Intel not coordinating with Microsoft?

External monitor recognized via HDMI cable but is blank.

Going nuts trying to get a new ASUS external monitor to work via HDMI cable with my Dell laptop. The Intel Graphics control panel recognizes the connection to the external monitor, identifies it correctly by brand and model, and allows me to adjust all the settings I would expect: refresh rate, resolution, output to clone/extended/laptop only/monitor only, etc. I can even move the mouse over to the extended monitor, take a screenshot, and see what the laptop 'thinks' it's displaying to the monitor. It's just that the monitor is blank, telling me HDMI1 (or HDMI2) NO SIGNAL.

Here's what I know / have tried

  • Dell Inspiron 15R 5521
  • Windows 10 with latest updates (today in fact)
  • ASUS VE 278 LCD monitor
  • Graphics Driver is Intel HD 4000 v10.18.10.4653
  • I have uninstalled the above driver, deleted driver files, downloaded new files from Intel's website, and reinstalled the driver
  • I've verified that the HDMI cable and ASUS monitor are functioning properly by attaching them to a different laptop
  • I've verified that the Dell laptop in question has the same problem with a different external monitor
  • I have not verified whether or not the Dell laptop in question will successfully display to an external monitor using a VGA connection (I'm ordering an HDMI-VGA adapter after I hit 'post' on this post.)
  • I've tried every combination of power off/on, reboot, plug cable in, turn monitor off/on. Dozens of times. To the point that my lovely fiance questions my sanity.
  • Here's the weirdest symptom that I've not seen in any of the research I've done on this issue: When I changed the refresh rate to 50p hz (not 50i hz), the Asus monitor showed a distorted, flickering display. I could see a crappy image of what was supposed to be there, take a normal screen shot, etc. This only happened at 50p, not 50i, 59p/i, or 60p/i. To kick the weirdness up a notch: After uninstalling/reinstalling the driver, THIS STOPPED, so now I just have a blank monitor. I mean the weird 50p behavior in this bullet stopped. Everything else is still as described.
  • Intel's diagnostic utility text file attached.
  • Between uninstall/reinstall of the Intel driver, I tried plugging the monitor in while the system was using the built-in graphics capability. My laptop wouldn't recognize it at all.

Thoughts, anyone?

Is there any information on when the LSPCon function will be incorporated into the UHD630 Graphics Processor? Also, will the UHD630 support both DolbyVision and HDR10+ dynamic HDR?

Problems

When I switch the television input from computer to satellite and back....

1) windows on screen are (sometimes) relocated. Very irritating, but I can live with this. (Seems to be related to windows that are partially off screen are relocated to be fully on screen.)

2) no input detected at all, monitor remains black but keyboard & mouse functional (I can make it "bing"!). Only "fix" is to unplug my computer.

Scaling options don't persist for 640x480 and below

$

0

This is pretty obviously a bug pertaining to an edge case, but I'm running a computer dedicated to playing old DOS games (via DOSBox) and other older Windows games. I am using integrated graphics for the display, which is a CRT monitor connected through an active HDMI converter. The board in question happens to be using an Intel Celeron N3160, which, if I recall correctly, has Intel HD Graphics 400.

I can get it to recognize 640x400 as a native display resolution such that the option to "Maintain Display Scaling" is available, and setting it causes the monitor to properly display it as a native 640x400 resolution. Same goes for 640x480. The issue is that it absolutely refuses to remember that setting of "Maintain Display Scaling" or any other sub-800x600 resolution. It doesn't remember the scaling mode at all. It keeps defaulting to "Center Image", which is awful for my usage.

As far as I can tell, scaling modes are picked and remembered based on aspect ratio. For some reason, these lower resolutions don't apply. The only solution I have right now is to override my EDID to specify that 640x400 and 640x480 are my only available "primary" resolutions, in that order. At that point, I have to set my desktop resolution to 640x400 and set the display scaling to "Maintain Display Scaling". Once that is done, anything that is run fullscreen at 640x400 will remember the desktop scaling, and whenever it switches to 640x480 it will display natively since there's nothing higher recognised to letterbox it into.

There are obvious, horrendous drawbacks to this setup, though. The most obvious is that I have to run my desktop at 640x400 (or, at best, 640x480) unless I want to go through the arduous process of switching EDID back and forth. The other is that, while it will remember that I set "Maintain Display Scaling" for the session, shutting down/rebooting the system will result in it going back to "Center Image", forcing me to manually switch it back again.

This is so frustrating. It's so very close to working like it should, and I doubt it would take much time for the engineers to fix. I would even be happy with a compromise, like letting me set a universal scaling mode instead of one for each aspect ratio and ensuring that sub-800x600 resolutions honor it. The actual bug could be something as simple as the fact that the Intel control panel doesn't normally recognise and handle resolutions lower than 800x600. I can only get it to display 640x480 if I have the desktop resolution set to that or below. Meanwhile, Windows 10 will show all the typical VGA resolutions at 640x480 and below so long as I have my desktop set to any of those resolutions.

Any chance of helping me out with this? I know I'm in the minority, but like I said, I get the feeling this would be a trivial issue for the engineers to fix except that they probably don't know it exists.

2560x1080 not available after installing driver (UHD 630)

Hi,

I'm using an UHD graphics 630 with LG 29UM59 ultrawide monitor connected via a HDMI to Display Port adapter.

The 2560x1080 resolution is available to select until i installed newest Intel graphics driver. The maximum resolution is 1920x1080 then. When I attempting to create a custom 2560x1080 resolution, it turned to "Out of range".

Please help, any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Gentemen/ Ladies,

Once again I am writing for advices. Please first see the attached youtube video.

vertical line screen problem - YouTube

If I am not mistaken, i think my laptop's graphics card is dying, and needs a replacement. Since Intel makes great products, I would like to buy a intel graphics card to replace the famous faulty Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT. The question is, which one would you recommend?

My laptop Spec: Sony VAIO VGN-AR770

RAM: 4GB

SSD x2 = 500GB

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 Ghz

Intel RAID, currently setting RAID-0

Original OS Vista 32 bits Ultimate, now 64 bits Windows Pro SP1

Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT

I ran the hardware diagnostic, the CPU is good, all other hardware(s) are also good, except "video section" which has a "error". I am trying to avoid a replacement of motherboard.

Thank you in advance,

I have upgraded my ITX motherboard recently from AMD A4-5000 to Intel J4205 and I discovered a bug in the pasthrough HDMI audio.

When I play a movie in Kodi there is a 5 second silence every time the player changes the audio format. I’ve checked it on my asus audio card and there is no delay like on my previous motherboard. I assume it’s a driver related issue. I’m on Windows 10 x64.

UHD620 video hardware decoding cause inaccurate color

$

When I watch youtube with chrome, I found that the the color of video was inaccurate, i.e. green being too green, orange being too yellowish etc.. And if I pause the video or move my mouse to make the video control to show up, the color returns to normal. If I disable the hardware acceleration for video in chrome://flags, the color is always normal. So I'm pretty sure that it's the Intel UHD620 videl hardware decoding that causes the inaccurate color. Is there any way to fix this issue? The problem only occurs when video is played in full screen.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - failed to launch

Hello Intel community

I've got some problems regarding Vulkan support in newest drivers (.4815, but I assume it will occur in older too).
Console window said that there is some features missing in Vulkan support and Wolfenstein could not be launched at all.

Is this related to game itself (no Intel GPU support due to low performance, or missing support ATM) or Intel missed something regarding vulkan compatibility?
Or maybe game is looking for something that is not missed by Intel but just unsupported by graphic (due to software or hardware limits).

It would be nice to know what is going on, because as far I remembered I've got no troubles with newest Doom after all.
Both games are using same engine.
Even The Evil Within 2 which is using reworked engine of Doom 2016 running fine (I assume it's pure OpenGL 4.x game).

I'm looking for answer or maybe workaround to launch this game.
It would be nice to hear that Intel already working on launch driver for this game

Intel HD Graphics 520 refuses to output 4K... sometimes.

$

Short Description:

I'm connecting my laptop to a 4K display via HDMI. Some of the time, it works fine, but other times, the graphics card/driver defaults to sending 1080p to the monitor, and doesn't display the options for higher resolutions. Does anyone know why this would happen or how to fix it? (Relevant system and monitor specs are included at the end of this message.)

Detailed Description:

As I said, sometimes it works fine, but sometimes I'll plug the monitor in and the graphics card will only send 1080p. When the issue is occurring and I look at the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, I can see that the driver still knows the maximum resolution of the monitor:

System knows the max res.jpg

but this resolution doesn't appear as an option in the settings drop-down, either within the Intel Control Panel:

1080p is the highest available.jpg

...or in the Windows Control Panel:

1080p is the best the Control Panel can do, too.jpg

When I view the monitor's properties under "Devices" in Windows and "List All Modes", Windows does not seem to know that the monitor is capable of 4K:

List all modes.jpg

I tried setting a custom resolution of 4K for that monitor using the Intel Control Panel, which reluctantly seemed to work (it took a restart, I think), but I suffered a major RAM failure a few days later, which seemed to originate with the graphics card (the first sign of failure was the on-board screen flickering and becoming checkered before the computer became unresponsive). Because of that, I'm concerned that I could be damaging my hardware by setting a custom resolution through the Intel Control Panel, even if I'm setting a resolution that I know should work.

All my drivers are up-to-date, my HDMI 2.0 cable is able to support 4K, and I'm only using my on-board monitor or the external monitor, never both (so no cloning issues).

If this problem were always happening, then I'd try reinstalling Windows or flashing my BIOS, but the fact that it only happens some of the time makes me think that it's not the type of consistent problem that would come from issues at that level.

Does anyone have any clue how to fix this mess? I currently have a 4K monitor that I can't use, so I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Intel Graphics UHD 620 Unsupported on Insignia HDTV 1080p?

$

Dear Sir or Madam,

Hope you had a great weekend and are well. I use Mediabridge HDMI cables to connect my newly-bought Dell Inspiron 7773 laptop which has Intel Graphics UHD 620 (and Nvidia Geforce MX150) inside to my Insignia HDTV (model #: NS-50L240A13).Upon connect, the TV screen would go black and say "unsupported mode" disturbingly. However, my old Inspiron 7720 laptop with Intel HD Graphics 4000 or my roommate’s Dell XPS 9550 with Intel Graphics HD 530 or my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Intel Graphics HD 515 all work perfectly with my old Insignia HDTV. I am wondering what I need to do to my Inspiron 7773 in order to revive the computer picture on the HDTV. I already tinkered the 620's graphics setting but to no avail. I also hooked up my Inspiron 7773 to my neighbor's Vizio 4K HDTV (model # M43C1) and it works too. So I feel really confused in terms of what went wrong. Have you heard about this from other customer before and if yes, what would be the solutions. Many thanks,

Jack730
