Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus - failed to launch

Hello Intel community

I've got some problems regarding Vulkan support in newest drivers (.4815, but I assume it will occur in older too).
Console window said that there is some features missing in Vulkan support and Wolfenstein could not be launched at all.

Is this related to game itself (no Intel GPU support due to low performance, or missing support ATM) or Intel missed something regarding vulkan compatibility?
Or maybe game is looking for something that is not missed by Intel but just unsupported by graphic (due to software or hardware limits).

It would be nice to know what is going on, because as far I remembered I've got no troubles with newest Doom after all.
Both games are using same engine.
Even The Evil Within 2 which is using reworked engine of Doom 2016 running fine (I assume it's pure OpenGL 4.x game).

I'm looking for answer or maybe workaround to launch this game.
It would be nice to hear that Intel already working on launch driver for this game

Intel HD Graphics 520 refuses to output 4K... sometimes.

Short Description:

I'm connecting my laptop to a 4K display via HDMI. Some of the time, it works fine, but other times, the graphics card/driver defaults to sending 1080p to the monitor, and doesn't display the options for higher resolutions. Does anyone know why this would happen or how to fix it? (Relevant system and monitor specs are included at the end of this message.)

Detailed Description:

As I said, sometimes it works fine, but sometimes I'll plug the monitor in and the graphics card will only send 1080p. When the issue is occurring and I look at the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, I can see that the driver still knows the maximum resolution of the monitor:

System knows the max res.jpg

but this resolution doesn't appear as an option in the settings drop-down, either within the Intel Control Panel:

1080p is the highest available.jpg

...or in the Windows Control Panel:

1080p is the best the Control Panel can do, too.jpg

When I view the monitor's properties under "Devices" in Windows and "List All Modes", Windows does not seem to know that the monitor is capable of 4K:

List all modes.jpg

I tried setting a custom resolution of 4K for that monitor using the Intel Control Panel, which reluctantly seemed to work (it took a restart, I think), but I suffered a major RAM failure a few days later, which seemed to originate with the graphics card (the first sign of failure was the on-board screen flickering and becoming checkered before the computer became unresponsive). Because of that, I'm concerned that I could be damaging my hardware by setting a custom resolution through the Intel Control Panel, even if I'm setting a resolution that I know should work.

All my drivers are up-to-date, my HDMI 2.0 cable is able to support 4K, and I'm only using my on-board monitor or the external monitor, never both (so no cloning issues).

If this problem were always happening, then I'd try reinstalling Windows or flashing my BIOS, but the fact that it only happens some of the time makes me think that it's not the type of consistent problem that would come from issues at that level.

Does anyone have any clue how to fix this mess? I currently have a 4K monitor that I can't use, so I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks!

Intel UHD Graphics 630 many issues

I built a new system together. Based on the new Intel Coffe Lake CPU Core i7 8700, with integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630. And the ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-H Gaming Mainboard with newest Bios Version.

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is up to date. Also, the official Intel driver for the iGPU is installed (15.47.02.4815).

However, many Software is not working properly at all. Like Example Cyberlinks Power Director 15+16 versions (on the current patch stand).

The preview in the timeline hangs constantly, and the image flickers constantly, or momentarily the Display goes completly black for a few seconds, and the software is not operable. Timeline playback stops or programs hang.

Furthermore, creating a BD disc is not possible because an error code is constantly being output. There are different error codes, including "eC0030106".

Before this - with the iGPU Intel HD Graphics 530 - everything ran smoothly.

Cyberlinks PowerDVD 17 (up to date) playback don't look smooth anymore, too.

Other Software which use the iGPU in Hardware didn't run well anymore. It looks like the iGPU Rendering doesn't work anymore.

All my Video Rendering Software like TMPENC didn't run with the Hardware Encoding of the iGPU (Intel UHD Graphics 630) anymore.

I have reinstalled Windows completly new, but nothing changes.

Is there anything changes in the driver ?!

When I use the Nvidia GTX1060 graphics card, there are no such problems at all.

I did not have any problems with all iGPU's before that, which is currently with the Intel UHD 630. The system runs very stable otherwise, even a test with Prime 95 did not cause any problems. Only when the iGPU becomes active, nothing works properly, as it should.

HD 620 HDMI Problem

Hello community,

I've recently bought 2 Lenovo laptops with the following spec.

  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00500 (Intel® Core™ i3-7100U (2.40 GHz), 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Intel® HD 620)
  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00700 (Intel® Core™ i7-7500U (2.70 - 3.50 GHz), 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Intel® HD 620 + NVIDIA® GeForce™ 940MX 2GB)
Both of them are running Win10 Professional.

When trying to connect either one of them to my TV via HDMI, the TV recognizes the laptop but not vice versa. I am able to choose the screen selection modes (Duplicate, Extend,...) but nothing happens upon selection. When I try the "recognize monitor" function in system controls, no other monitor then the laptop screen is found. All drivers are updated to the newest ones available including BIOS updates. It seems as if the HDMI-port is somehow inactive.

Do you know how the fix this?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Rob

Hi,

I own a mini-pc with an Intel Celeron J3455 / Intel HD Graphics 500.

GPU Caps Viewer shows me some informations about the graphics APIs and the version:

Driver: 23.20.16.4849

Vulkan API 1.0.0 - GPU0: Intel(R) HD Graphics 500

OpenGL 4.5 (Intel(R) HD Graphics 500 with 243 ext.)

OpenCL 1.2, Intel(R) HD Graphics 500 compute units:12@750MH

Would it be possible for the Intel Graphics team to lift the version for the OpenCL to 2.x with the next driver update?

Cheers

Greetings,

After the Win 1709 update mi pc is not able to perform how it used to in terms of graphics. In games that previously ran without problems, now there´s flickering with split seconds of black screens and even videos are not being displayed with ease. I supose that there is a problem with the driver after the update, because previously, everything worked great, all the games I played worked flawlessly. My specs are:

Biostar h81mhv3

8gs of RAM

i5-4460

Windows 10Pro

Intel HD Graphics 4600.

I tried reinstalling the driver, looking for new ones, mess with the graphics settings. Can´t find a solution.

I hope that you are able to help me out and not to have to buy a gpu.

Cheers.

eye strain

hello,

I have a Notebook with Intel Core i7 4710 - Intel Graphics 4600 and external Nvidia Gforce GTX 850M for about 2 weeks now. I connect the Notebook on two different places per HDMI with nearly three year old lg monitors. With my old Notebook (Intel Core2Duo and Nvidia Gforce 9500GT) I had not any problems with this two monitors. However when I connect one of the two monitors with my new Notebook I get eye strain and headache. Of course I use the right resolution FullHD and tried out different brigthness and contrast adjustments in intel graphic properties. OS is Windows 7 Prof x64  and the newest drivers are installed. Version:15.33.22.64.3621
Nearly two months ago I purchased an other Notebook with Intel Core i7 4700MQ - Intel Graphics 4600 and Nvidia Gforce GT755 M. I had the same problem there and so I sent it back, because I thought that the Notebook has an defect. I tried out Windows 7 and Windows 8 and had the same eye problems in the two different OS.
Now I do not really know what the problem exactly is, because I have these problems with two different Notebooks on two different external LG Monitors and the integrated Displays of the Notebooks. But I thinkt the problem is the Intel HD 4600. Maybe that there is something wrong with the driver.
Do you have any ideas about this? Couse  I can't purchase and send back new Notebooks all the time.

Sorry for my bad english

How can I get my Intel 630 graphics to display 2560x1600 60 hz. resolution under HDMI

$

I am connecting a new Intel based ASUS Z270 chip based motherboard to an older Dell 3008WTF 30" Monitor using HDMI under Windows 10 64 Bit Pro.  The highest display resolution offered is 1920x1200 but the monitor's native resolution is 2560x1600.

How do I get this resolution to appear in the list under the screen graphics options?  I have already downloaded the Intel Display Driver Management software and added custom modes but with no noticeable changes.

I read the 630 can support 4K resolutions so it should support this option too.  Also, what is the highest refresh rate it can support at 2560x1600?

Random flicker and/or totally black screens (2 monitors)

$
0
0

About a month ago I bought an HP Pavilion desktop system with Intel HD 630 integrated graphics. About a week ago I started noticing very random "glitches" - screen flicker or jumps. On several occasions it got quite sever, and one (or both) monitors went totally black. As far as I can ascertain, there is no "trigger", it just happens. It has happened under various conditions (temp, software, on web, off line, etc.). I am using two ViewSonic VX 2257 MHD 24" monitors (primary connected to the HDMI port, secondary to the D-Sub 15 pin port). After searching the web, I read an Amazon review by a guy that bought 13 of these monitors for his office. He wrote that he had the exact same issues with all the monitors, and ViewSonic offered no help. Somehow (he did not elaborate) they traced the issue to the graphics driver (brand unspecified). Sooo... I was wondering if there is a known issue with these monitors and the HD 630 driver?

Also, since I did not notice this issue for a few weeks (which can be deceiving because I may have just not seen it - it is very random) and there was an Intel update that was applied around Nov 8th (shortly before I noticed this issue), would it be advisable to roll back the driver? Are older drivers available for download?

I realize there are many variables here, and I saw your post about using a chart (frankly I was confused about how to use it) to provide info. Here is my system info:

Windows 10 Professional (x64) Version 1709 (build 16299.64)

HP Pavilion Desktop PC 570-p027

3.00 gigahertz Intel Core i5-7400

12 GB DDR4 RAM

128GB SSD (primary)

2TB SSD (data)

2TB & 800GB USB drives

4TB WD MyCloud Home Duo

The ViewSonic Display Drivers are current.

This issue usually is insignificant (i.e. just an inconvenience), but maybe 5 times so far, one or both monitors are unusable for maybe 10 minutes. I worked with HP for over an hour running various tests, and the computer itself seem faultless (the screens broke up during a test of the video, but the tests all passed, so I thought the issue was the monitors, which seemed unlikely since they both do the same stuff - albeit NOT at the same time usually - however when I found a guy with 13 of them doing the same thing, I started to dig deeper). Any advice is appreciated. This is extremely frustrating since the system is less than 2 months old. Thanx!

Hello,

Battlefield 1 unplayable (2-10 FPS) and choppy/no audio with new video driver 4877. Very long load time. Release notes: "Battlefield 1 (and others) get improved load times, performance optimizations, and enhanced playability using DirectX11"

Same results using DirectX12.

Previous driver version 4849 was fine (20-30 FPS) and no audio issues.

Video full screen 1280x720 and options at minimum.

Does x5-z8350 support hardware VP9 decoding?

$

Hello, I'm looking for information regarding VP9 support on the x5-z8350. Some 3rd party sites claim that it has hardware VP9 decoder, for example:

https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/intel/atom_x5/x5-z8350

while others claim it doesn't.

I bought a PC stick powered by the x5-z8350, and while I am able to smoothly play movies encoded by h264 and h265 - with nearly 0% CPU utilization, when it comes to VP9 (both on YouTube, as well as with offline samples), movie stutters and CPU utilization is near 100%.

So... I would like to finally get 100% confirmed answer - does this CPU support VP9 hardware decoder or not? If it does - do I need some special drivers/codecs to make it work?

Thanks in advance.

Dell Precision 5520 Can't Output to 4K @ 60Hz via Thunderbolt 3?

$

0

Hello all,

I have recently been trying to use an LG 40UB8000 as a monitor for my dell precision 5520 (Intel 630 + Quadro M1200), and I seem to be limited to 30Hz at 3840X2160.

I am using a Thunderbolt 3 > HDMI adapter and HDMI 2.X cable, both of which are advertised and confirmed by customer reviews to support 4K@60Hz.

When using the pre-installed "dell approved" graphics drivers, I am only able to select 30Hz, and the "custom resolution" section is not available by default in the Intel Graphics Control Center (dell doesn't update this automatically so you have to do it manually).

After manually installing the latest Intel graphics driver via device manager, I now have the option to set a custom resolution, but when I put in the 4K@60Hz options and hit "add", there is a dialog box which reads "the custom resolution exceeds the maximum bandwidth capacity".

I know that the TB3 port on my computer is capable of this 4K60, as I am able to output 4K60 on an actual monitor via the DisplayPort (it does this automatically without any custom resolution nonsense), so I have no idea where the bandwidth bottleneck is.

Also,

I may try returning the TB3 adapter to Amazon and try another one, so if anybody has a suggestion for one that is confirmed to work this would be greatly appreciated.

Right Click Freeze Problem

$

Hi,

as people with Intel + NVIDIA laptops, we are having a very frustrating issue where our devices get locked for about a second when we right click on desktop or click on the battery icon on system tray.

This video here demonstrates the problem perfectly:

This was recored on a Razer laptop. But the issue can be seen on all brands including ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Razer.

We have tried updating every software possible, but no luck.

  • Intel driver
  • NVIDIA driver
  • Chipset driver
  • BIOS
  • Firmware

The problem can be solved by either disabling Intel GPU or disabling NVIDIA GPU. Both of them is not an option though, as if you disable Intel, not only you will drain the battery faster, but also some games will stop working. If you disable NVIDIA, then what is the point of buying a laptop with a discrete GPU?

There is a also a workaround: configuring a software to always work with NVIDIA in the backgound. This keeps the GTX 1060 alive but also drains battery faster. And there is no poaint in that as it renders Optimus useless!

I have created the same topic on Microsoft forums back in June 30! And so far, Microsoft did nothing about the issue: Intel + NVIDIA Laptop Freeze Problem - Microsoft Community

They also have a support article for an issue like this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/4033498/brief-black-screen-at-uac-or-wake-up-on-computers-that-have-two-video

  • 1607, problem.
  • 1703, problem.
  • 1709, problem...
  • RS4, problem goes on...

But today, we have found a solution for the right click issue! It turns out that removing those two entries from the regedit context menu prevents system freeze!

  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxcui
  • HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\igfxDTCM

So, I believe that the battery icon freeze issue is also related to Intel driver.

Please take a look at this problem and provide a solution.

Regards
