Gentemen/ Ladies,

Once again I am writing for advices. Please first see the attached youtube video.

vertical line screen problem - YouTube

If I am not mistaken, i think my laptop's graphics card is dying, and needs a replacement. Since Intel makes great products, I would like to buy a intel graphics card to replace the famous faulty Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT. The question is, which one would you recommend?

My laptop Spec: Sony VAIO VGN-AR770

RAM: 4GB

SSD x2 = 500GB

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.6 Ghz

Intel RAID, currently setting RAID-0

Original OS Vista 32 bits Ultimate, now 64 bits Windows Pro SP1

Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT

I ran the hardware diagnostic, the CPU is good, all other hardware(s) are also good, except "video section" which has a "error". I am trying to avoid a replacement of motherboard.

Thank you in advance,

HD 620 HDMI Problem

Hello community,

I've recently bought 2 Lenovo laptops with the following spec.

  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00500 (Intel® Core™ i3-7100U (2.40 GHz), 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Intel® HD 620)
  • THINKPAD® E470 20H2S00700 (Intel® Core™ i7-7500U (2.70 - 3.50 GHz), 256GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Intel® HD 620 + NVIDIA® GeForce™ 940MX 2GB)
Both of them are running Win10 Professional.

When trying to connect either one of them to my TV via HDMI, the TV recognizes the laptop but not vice versa. I am able to choose the screen selection modes (Duplicate, Extend,...) but nothing happens upon selection. When I try the "recognize monitor" function in system controls, no other monitor then the laptop screen is found. All drivers are updated to the newest ones available including BIOS updates. It seems as if the HDMI-port is somehow inactive.

Do you know how the fix this?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Rob

Intel HD Graphics Driver - Windows Fall Update 2017

Hi, I just automatically updated my Windows 10 (64bit, Intel Core i5 M540, 2.53 GHz, 8GB RAM) with the Fall Update. I am using an external Monitor (HP Compaq LA2205wg), and everything worked fine, I could use 1600x900 on my laptop Monitor and 1680x1050 on my external Monitor (see also attached file). But, since the update, I have a driver (Intel HD Graphics), that only supports 1366x768 on my external monitor. I have tried everything, plugging, unplugging, restarting, new/old drivers for Monitor or graphics adapter - without success.

Please provide a solution, so that I can use my higher resolution again!

Hi, I installed the latest driver (.4877) two days and noticed when browsing the web with Firefox 57.0.2 (x64) that the screen would freeze for 2-5 seconds and then continue as normal. It then happend occasionally, even at idle (mouse cursor would freeze).

Checked the event log and got these following messages:

Age of Empires 3 - flickering / tearing with latest HD4600 driver

Hi

PC is running Windows 10 with the latest Fall Creators Update (1709).  I hadn't used Age of Empires III Asian Dynasties expansion on it for a few months, but when I did last night there was significant tearing and flickering on the game's menu screens (the video clip that preceded the game was fine).  No other applications have presented any problems recently.

Strangely enough both expansion packs (Asian Dynasties / War Chiefs) had disappeared from my start menu and Cortana search didn't find them.  The programs were still installed, I just had to go grubbing around in the Program Files (x86) folder to find them.  The original Age of Empires III game was still present.  I have no idea if this is related or not but thought I should mention it (I've never seen this happen before in 25 years of using Windows).

Checking in Device Manager my card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, Driver provider Intel Corporation, Date 16/10/2017 and version 20.19.15.4835.

I rolled back my driver to an earlier version (sometime in late 2016) and everything was fine again.  So my immediate problem is fixed but there's clearly an issue with the latest version of the driver.  Is there any way I can provide more detailed diagnostic information to help get this resolved with the next driver update?

Thanks

James

On Win 10 "Scale Full Screen" option doesn't remains selected

Hello,

same driver and same hardware (I attach my SSU result). On a Win7 image we select  "Scale Full Screen" on Intel HD graphics config tool, we launch our 4:3 aspect ratio soft and it works perfectly, scaling to full screen ok. We stop and launch again our soft and perfect, we reboot and launch again and perfect.

On a Win10 image we select  "Scale Full Screen" on Intel HD graphics config tool, we launch our 4:3 soft and it appears small and centered. However we can then go to Intel HD graphics config tool and select "Scale Full Screen" again, and it woks perfectly, fully scaled! But after closing our soft and new launch, it appears small and centered again, every new launch is small and centered, and of course we can't not change settings after every launch or reboot.

It seems that driver, and only on Win10, doesn't stores that the "Scale Full Screen" option has been selected.

I also remember on old driver versions an "Override Application Settings" option, where is it? However on same driver version, but on Win7, this option is also missing but it keeps the "Scale full screen" option properly selected...

It's quite urgent as we would like to use this motherboard as our main commercial hardware for POS, Digital Signage and gambling machine. We have no problems with Win7 but we would like to use Win10 for lower License costs. The only thing wrong for us is this Scale problem.

Thank you.

HDR10+ requires HDMI 2.1

I was reading an article that states an HDR10+ format requires HDMI 2.1.

Here is the quote from the Blu-ray forum:

Proposed optional 4K HDR formats:

1. HDR10+ is 10 bits, is dynamic. Requires HDMI 2.1.

2. Technicolor is 10 bits, is dynamic. Requires HDMI 2.1.

Is this an accurate statement or can HDR10+ be supported with HDMI 2.0a?

hello,

I have a Notebook with Intel Core i7 4710 - Intel Graphics 4600 and external Nvidia Gforce GTX 850M for about 2 weeks now. I connect the Notebook on two different places per HDMI with nearly three year old lg monitors. With my old Notebook (Intel Core2Duo and Nvidia Gforce 9500GT) I had not any problems with this two monitors. However when I connect one of the two monitors with my new Notebook I get eye strain and headache. Of course I use the right resolution FullHD and tried out different brigthness and contrast adjustments in intel graphic properties. OS is Windows 7 Prof x64  and the newest drivers are installed. Version:15.33.22.64.3621
Nearly two months ago I purchased an other Notebook with Intel Core i7 4700MQ - Intel Graphics 4600 and Nvidia Gforce GT755 M. I had the same problem there and so I sent it back, because I thought that the Notebook has an defect. I tried out Windows 7 and Windows 8 and had the same eye problems in the two different OS.
Now I do not really know what the problem exactly is, because I have these problems with two different Notebooks on two different external LG Monitors and the integrated Displays of the Notebooks. But I thinkt the problem is the Intel HD 4600. Maybe that there is something wrong with the driver.
Do you have any ideas about this? Couse  I can't purchase and send back new Notebooks all the time.

Hello,

i have my reason i am using integrated graphics.

I have windows 10, connected from motherboard by dvi to my monitor, using vlc.

Picture is pixelated, it is visible on black color, colors are sligthly off and darker.
I have downloaded latest drivers i belive: win64_153345.4653
I tried tweak video section, it had no impact on video whatsoever.
Is there something to do, that could get rid of pixelation ?
It is not that bad, but it is slightly annoying.

Intel HD audio passthrough 5 second delay

I have upgraded my ITX motherboard recently from AMD A4-5000 to Intel J4205 and I discovered a bug in the pasthrough HDMI audio.

When I play a movie in Kodi there is a 5 second silence every time the player changes the audio format. I’ve checked it on my asus audio card and there is no delay like on my previous motherboard. I assume it’s a driver related issue. I’m on Windows 10 x64.

On at least 5 occasions I would close the lid of my Lenovo expecting that it will go into sleep or hibernation mode yet when I lift the lid back up I'm greeted with nothing but a black screen that blinks grey whenever you press a key. The only way to fix the problem would be to hold power and wait for the laptop to power off and reboot. Fortunately this new driver NEW- 15.45.23.4860: Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows 7*/8.1* [6th Generation only] seems to have fixed this problem. Thank you intel for continuing to support your products over time.

Graphics Driver update preventing software from working

$

Hi,

I'm wondering if someone could help me. I'm an animation student that uses software like Photoshop, Premiere, and Autodesk Maya. I run these programs on my HP Pavilion laptop that is only a year old. Up until November I was able to run all these programs without any issues but after a windows update they all crash or appear with error messages as soon as they are opened. Having looked on the Adobe and Autodesk websites it has become clear that the issue is my graphics driver that is causing them to crash. I have tried to update it but windows is telling me it is already up to date. When I disable it all the programs open fine but this is not a permanent solution as I need my graphics driver to run heavier tasks in them. I’ve tried uninstalling the driver and installing the previous version of it before the update, but windows says that it so not “validated for this computer” and to “obtain the appropriate one”. My graphics driver is Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 and the previous version I tried to install was also an Intel(R) HD Graphics 520. I even went as far to wipe my whole laptop and spent hours reinstalling my programs only to see that they still didn’t work. I’m tearing my hair out over this, my laptop is useless if I can’t do my university work on it.

USB-C Display PnP not working with Lenovo Yoga 920 (Intel 620 graphics)

$

Hello,

Last month I bought a new Lenovo Yoga 920, which has an i7-8550U w/Intel 620 graphics and 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports.  The laptop is advertised as supporting DisplayPort Alternative Modes over USB-C.

Like many other owners of this laptop (Yoga 920 USB C to HDMI not working - Lenovo Community ), I've found that driving an external display over the UBS-C is very challenging.  This creates real problems as this is a work machine for me and I need to be able to quickly change displays when meeting with clients, etc.

I've tried multiple adapters with external displays and, universally, I find that I an not able to make external displays work in a plug-n-play fashion.  This is with the latest Lenovo provided bios & drivers, and Windows 10 home updates (fall creators).

I'm only able to successfully utilize external displays if I completely shut down the laptop. Unplug and plug-in the display adapter I want to use, make sure the external display is on, and then cold boot the machine.  If I follow this scenario I'm able to consistently utilize various adapters for external displays.  If I unplug the USB-C display adapter after successfully following this procedure, I'm not able to recover the display by plugging the adapter back in and need to reboot again from off in order to regain use of an external display.  This is somewhat less than convenient and not what I would expect from a modern laptop.  There are many individuals experiencing the same problem with this laptop.  General consensus indicates there may be some model-specific driver issues creating this problem.

I wonder if anyone at Intel or in this forum can offer suggestions on what's happening to prevent external display recognition except at boot up and what resolution may entail as the issue has existed for several weeks with lots of discussion on Lenovo's forum with no resolution.

As described in the guidelines for Graphics questions here is further information about the issue and my specific device:

Only successful scenario (boot from cold)

  1. Boot down PC
  2. Remove adapter
  3. Plug in adapter
  4. Turn on monitor
  5. Reboot PC
  6. Monitor recognized / works!

What doesn't work

Scenario A

  1. Boot up following procedure above
  2. Remove Adapter from PC
  3. Wake up monitor
  4. Plug Adapter back into PC
  5. USB device shows "billboard device" only. Monitor is not recognized. Monitor indicates no signal. Failure.

Scenario B

  1. Boot up without external display plugged in
  2. Wake up monitor (or just leave in sleep... end result is the same)
  3. Plug Adapter into PC
  4. USB device shows "billboard device" only. Monitor is not recognized. Monitor indicates no signal. Failure.

...

Attached are DispDiag dump files.  One was run with the adapter working after a cold boot.  The other is a dump after I unplugged the USBC end of the adapter while it was working and then plugged it back into the PC, effectively killing the ability to display on the external monitor until reboot.
